In the Windows section, I list some of freeware programs that I use, and I listed the commercial software that it most likely could replace. This is handy if you are trying to get rid of pirated software. Many of the programs in the list are every bit as good if not better than their commercial competition. In fact, now is a good time to quit paying Microsoft and check out Linux, a free open source operating system.
Slight Disclaimer: As of the time of testing, I am 99.9% sure all of these programs are spyware free (at least AdAware and Spybot didn't see anything wrong with them). All of them worked on Windows 2000 and might work on other versions of Windows / other operating systems as well.
