About Me

Who am I?

I started using computers ever since the early 1990s, back when people thought the Intel 386 processor was fast, new programs were still being created for DOS, and a 28.8kbps modem was a fast internet connection. I started using Linux sometime around 2000 when Mandrake Linux released version 7.0. I went to DeVry University and earned my Bachelor's of Science in Computer Information Systems in 2002.

n01getsout?

I have been using the nickname n01getsout for a long time. It comes from the lyrics to The Doors song "Five to One". I first got it as a AOL screen-name. (Boy did I ever hate AOL). I have used it as my online identity ever since. Chances are, if you ever see n01getsout in a game or on the Internet, it is me.

I started n01getsout.com back sometime in 2004. I tend to get lost browsing the web when I start working on my site, so I don't update it nearly as much as I should. Please let me know if you find any inaccuracies, spelling errors, broken links, etc.

Freeware

I have fallen in love with freeware. Not that I paid for software before, but I figure that this is a much better and more legal way of going about it. I have found that most free software is of good enough quality for most users that it will do everything they need. I occasionally run across a freeware program that is much better quality than it's commercial competitors and I know the only reason anyone would pay for the commercial software is because they didn't realize that the freeware version exists. I created the freeware list to help inform people that good software can be free. Please don't hesitate to inform me of software on my site that is no longer available or no longer free and I will update my list as soon as possible.

Politics

"Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it." - Mark Twain

I think President W. Bush is the worst President the United States of America has ever had. I figure I should say that right now. I don't think he won the first election in 2000 and I have no idea how he was reelected (Diebold) in 2004. I believe he tried to do a good job on some things, but I believe that arrogance, greed, and corruption were deeply seated in his administration. I think he believed that he knew better that the rest of the country and therefore did what he wanted without any thought or consideration on how it affects others or what their opinions were. I also believed Bush was determined to sell America to international corporations. Bush and his administration borrowed more money than every other U.S. President combined, pushed an agenda of deregulation, and allowed unchecked greed to cause global economic crisis. The ancient Roman Empire was destroyed not by terrorists or another army, it was destroyed by corruption and greed. Their economy collapsed because of inflation and unemployment (read more about the fall of Rome). I think that the privatization of our military, prisons, social security, and other important parts of our government will lead to the downfall of our beloved country. I love America and would hate to see that happen to our country, and yet I believe that greedy mega-corporations have bought our politicians and are actively waging a war of lies and deception against the American public. Our government should be "of the people, by the people, and for the people", not "of the Corporations, by the hardworking poor, and for the obscenely rich".

The U.S. Constitution does not ban its citizens from doing anything and I do not think that the government should be able to amend the Constitution to do so (gay marriage). I think that the US Patriot Act is unconstitutional and should be changed. I believe we need a viable third political party in America and that the two party system is what has lead to much of the corruption in U.S. politics.
